If you’re on the hunt for a slice of Louisiana in Houston, look no further than Ragin' Cajun. Nestled on Richmond Avenue, this beloved Cajun restaurant captures the essence of authentic Southern flair. The reviews shine a spotlight on their standout dish: the crawfish. Patrons effectively rave about the seasoning, often claiming it rivals the best of Louisiana's offerings. Chellez Marie describes it as “seasoned to perfection,” while Kassidy Tomman-Pierce praises their affordable quality and massive, flavorful oysters.
The laid-back atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for a casual night out, as Taryn Heng mentions her yearly tradition of indulging in copious crawfish. For those craving a genuine experience, Christopher Ortega reminisces about the nostalgic feel, likening it to a bayou shack, rich in Cajun character. While he noted occasional overcooking, the flavors remain bold and satisfying. Ragin' Cajun is more than just a meal; it’s an escape, a journey through Louisiana’s culinary heart, brought to Houston with genuine warmth. Come for the incredible shared dishes like shrimp po’boys and boudin poppers, but stay for the good vibes and friendly faces.

The crawfish was so good! Seasoned to perfection! Just like they do in Louisiana! Great HH for the oysters & drinks. They have delicious gumbo, etouffee in a laid back setting. We will definitely be back!

I live down the street from here and since I’ve tried it I’ve been kicking myself for not coming here sooner! I don’t think you’ll find better crawfish, especially at this price, in all of Houston. The people are always friendly and we love sitting at bar here (it’s LA Bar, the two are connected though). Their happy hour is pretty incredible as well, I’ve never had such huge oysters anywhere that still have this much flavor. I could rave about this place all day honestly, but please come and try it for yourself!

Always love this place during crawfish season. Best prices, service and flavour! I come here with my best friend every year and we have 9 pounds of crawfish each!

TL/DR - Authentic atmosphere and flavor Stepping into this place is like stepping back in time—in the best way. I ate here as a kid in the ’80s, and it still feels like a tucked-away shack on the Louisiana bayou. The interior hasn’t changed much since the ‘70s, and that’s part of the charm. It’s not trying to be flashy—just real, familiar, and full of character. The menu has evolved subtly over the years, enough to stay current without losing the soul of authentic Cajun cooking. The crawfish and seafood boils are still the main event—bold, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. My only knock is that the seafood was just a touch overcooked this time, but it didn’t ruin the experience. Still an incredible bite, and I’ll be back without question. Some places just know how to stick to what works.

Delicious crawfish plus as a bonus they have Andy Gator on tap! The dirty rice stuffed jalapenos are not to be missed either

The Crawfish were really large for this time of year and the price was cheaper than most places in Houston. Was a huge fan of a popular chain starting with a B and I've been very disappointed with the size and quality. The crawfish at Rajun were really nice sized, good and spicy!

The cup of seafood gumbo and half of a fried crawfish/mudbug combo was very tasty. My wife liked her crawfish etouffee but thought my gumbo was slightly better. We shared and enjoyed the boudin eggrolls....first time we've had these and they were amazing.
